The Vancouver International Maritime Centre (VIMC) continues its global outreach strategy by hosting a private reception during Posidonia 2016

VANCOUVER, BC, CANADA (April 28, 2016): Held every two years in Athens, Greece, Posidonia is the world’s leading shipping exhibition. This year more than 1,800 exhibitors and 20,000 visitors are expected to attend.

“Participating during Posidonia allows us to raise awareness that Vancouver offers yet another option to international shipping companies wishing to expand or diversify in the global marketplace, particularly in North America,” says Kaity Arsoniadis-Stein, Executive Director of the VIMC.

“The shipping sector has been hit hard by tough economic conditions. Now more than ever, companies are looking for safe, politically stable locations, close to Asian markets and it’s our goal to make sure Vancouver’s advantages are understood by decision makers.”

The VIMC has just returned from a successful launch in Tokyo, Singapore and Hong Kong, where it informed industry leaders in Asia that Vancouver is not only a optimum business location to operate from, but also offers a sought-after lifestyle.

Last week, VIMC attended Lloyd’s List North American Awards in New York and was honoured to be among the shortlisted Vancouver nominees: Teekay Corporation, Seaspan Ship Management, Waterfront Shipping, Port of Vancouver and the British Columbia Maritime Employers Association.

Posidonia will be held from June 6-10 at the Athens Metropolitan Expo.

Join the VIMC, in cooperation with the Embassy of Canada and the Hellenic Canadian Chamber of Commerce, on June 8th for an evening reception at the Vorres Museum in Athens to highlight Vancouver’s shipping advantage.
